I went to Whole Foods today to grab some food for the week, and saw people everywhere that I knew.
"Mel!"--from a college friend, a farmer friend, a design friend, a hospital friend, a neighbor, and staff I know. Hugs, short visits. It's easy for our perceived reality to be one of "aloneness"--particularly for us widows/widowers. But I believe this is true for many people today as we spend so much time with machines rather than people.
It's really, really special to live in a place where you can walk out the door and be reminded of your connectivity and belonging. I felt like my name should have been Norm.
